QUALIFICATIONS
We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job that is engaged and passionate in promoting our faith-based mission for our students, and that candidate may be one who comes from a less traditional background. Knowledge:
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Science education is required; a master’s degree in Science Education is preferred;
• Current Georgia Renewable Teaching Certificate in Secondary Science Education is required;

Experience:
• Teaching experience of 3+ years.
• Success in teaching AP Environmental Science, and/or Oceanography is preferable.

• Lead the classroom and other activities with a heart of Christ and be an example of Christ to our students;
• Create a curriculum that meets state/national/College Board and GAC requirements;

​Job Description:
The qualified individual is committed to fulfilling the RCCS mission within our school community. The role includes all aspects of planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program in a secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to fulfill their academic potential and promote positive spiritual development. Reporting to the High School Principal, this is a full-time position during the ten-month academic school year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the subject area/s taught;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of developmental characteristics of age group(s) taught;
  • Effectively utilize the basic elements of instruction (i.e. presenting of information, questioning techniques, responding to learner input, arrangement of learning activities);
  • Demonstrate ability to inspire learning and cultivate relationships with students;
  • Prepare appropriate weekly lesson plans including instructional objectives, planned activities, Biblical integration, assessments, and resources;
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities to support proper differentiation of instruction;
  • Utilize appropriate assessment techniques to inform and evaluate student learning and progress.
  • Incorporate classroom technology in order to enhance instruction;
  • Implement effective classroom management and discipline procedures to provide for a positive classroom environment conducive to learning;
  • Regularly review/update department and course curriculum maps to assure the fulfillment of proper instructional priorities and pacing;
  • Update all student and school records accurately and completely as required;
  • Model effective teacher/parental partnering through timely and proactive communication with parents in support of student behavioral and academic success (posting of assignments, grades, conferencing, etc.);
  • Assist with enlarging the vision and mission of RCCS Christian School;
  • Motivate students to accept God’s gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith through their witness and Christian role modeling;
  • Lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ and assist them in making positive life choices;
  • Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout all activities.
  • Keep the administration adequately informed of serious student issues;
  • Recognize the need for good public relations and represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the general public;
  • Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration;
  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff, and administration;
  • Know the procedures for dealing with emergency situations.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
  • Supervise extracurricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned;
  • Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth;
  • Provide input and constructive recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school;
  • Support the broader program of the school by attending extracurricular activities when possible.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the administration.

REQUIRED SPIRITUAL QUALITIES:
  • Have received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior;
  • Believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living;
  • Be in whole-hearted agreement with Rock County Christian School’s Foundational documents.
  • Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others including a commitment to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke 6:40);
  • Be a member in good standing at an evangelical church that has a Statement of Faith in agreement with the RCCS Statement of Faith;
  • Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ;
  • Have the Spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go.
